The closest Fable II just released, more goodies seem to become available for players to unlock. First, there were the tons of cash and the collection of items available through Fable II Advertising Games; now there is a digital puppet show and online game on the official Fable II website this will provide players with additional in-game items … provided server issues don’t rob us of our hard-earned possessions.
“The Hero’s Tale,” a digital puppet show, tells the story of what appears to be an ancestor of Fable II hero. It’s alternately adorable and horrible, and will make you laugh. The puppet show features a number of different moral choices characters can make for their hero, which ultimately earns you a prize in Fable II. Because I took the benevolent and neutral path, I was rewarded with a tattoo and a doll that I was quickly unable to claim due to a constant server error.
Players can also participate in “Chicken Kickin ‘”, a web game that looks rather flawed at launch. The hero he ordered to throw a chicken at various targets around his camp; provided he does it when the moving power bar is at the right level, he will be rewarded with fun animation and points.
Unfortunately, the game’s targeting system never really works. Clicking on the targets themselves results in failure, so players have to click around the target until they manage to find the right spot to strike. On top of that, the power bar only seems to work every now and then, so half the kicks will result in weak punts. Since you can only get 500 gold with this game, you might want to stick with Pub games instead of. I finally managed to beat the game, only to encounter an error that once again prevented me from claiming my prize.
Despite the failure with “Chicken Kickin ‘”, the entertainment provided by “The Hero’s Tale” is certainly worth the few minutes it takes to watch / interact with it. Hopefully the servers stabilize.
